Courses Taught: American Literature I Campus Activities: Creative Writing Club Academic and Professional Pursuits: To complete and publish my first book of poetry. Many poems from this work-in-progress have been published in American literary journals including Chelsea, Poetry East, Hampden-Sydney Poetry Review, Mudfish, and Poet Lore. One poem was selected for Poetry East's 20-year retrospective anthology: Who Are the Rich and Where Do They Live? Distinctions/Awards: Cambor Fellowship, University of Houston Research/Presentations: Academic Colloquium at the University of Houston: "Neglected Spaces of Freedom: Making the Classroom a Site of Agency" White paper presented at the University of Houston: A Study of the Second Language Acquisition of the Vietnamese and Hispanic Student Populations at the University of Houston Personal Interests (in no particular order): Writing, swing dancing (East and West coast), hiking, road biking, happy houring with friends and colleagues over the age of 21, snuggling with my furry babies (Zorro, Jazzy and Mojo), Buddhism, theatre, visual art, movies, hot debates on Facebook (& during happy houring with friends and colleagues over the age of 21), travel, classic rock, the blues, especially the blues. Don't even come to class unless you've gone to Pandora and listened to Buddy Guy's Rememberin' Stevie. It's a prereq, but I can't seem to get it included in the catalogue... Current Ringtone: Eric Clapton's Layla. Future Ringtones: Jackson Browne's Running on Empty and Rodrigo y Gabriela's Tamacun (all prereqs). Astrological Sign: Libra (but who takes that stuff seriously?)
