Beckum, Bruce

Hello,

I'm Bruce Beckum, Professor of Communications/Humanities at Alpine Campus, Colorado Mountain College. I teach writing, literature, public speaking and fly fishing. When not working, I enjoy reading, fishing, mountain biking, trail running and floating Western rivers.

working with students

In the summers I am a fly fishing guide, which is really still teaching, just in a different classroom. My philosophy of learning is that no one can really "teach" us anything; we teach ourselves. So I see my roll as more like a coach—helping you acquire the skills you need to be successful.

I try very hard to make my classes interactive and tailor them to different learning styles. I set up as much one-on-one learning time as possible. I hold my students accountable while maintaining compassion and frequently develop long-lasting relationships with them.

Holding FishWhen you come to Colorado Mountain College, I promise you will learn and have fun doing it.
