Spanish from Square One
Wednesdays, 8:30-9:45am, Jan. 23-Apr. 24 (Glenwood)
We invite students with no prior Spanish language experience to learn some commonly used vocabulary using TPR storytelling. You can quickly acquire an ear for the language and good pronunciation skills while increasing your vocabulary with every class. Listening and speaking are the focus rather than grammar and writing. There is no textbook to purchase for this class. No class on 3/27. Cost: $128.
Community Spanish
Fridays, 8:30-9:45am, Jan. 25-Apr. 26 (Glenwood)
This class is for people who already have a little Spanish vocabulary, but would like to be able to use what they already know in conversations. In this class you learn to form basic sentences in the present and future tense and practice forming and answering questions in common situations. You also build some additional vocabulary. This class provides a way to refresh your high school Spanish or Spanish that you have acquired through travel or other circumstances. No class on 3/29. Cost: $128.
Conversational Spanish I (3 credits)

Offers beginning students the skills necessary to understand and speak Spanish. The material includes basic vocabulary, grammar, and expressions that are used in daily situations and in travel. Cost: 3 credits of tuition.

Offers beginning students the skills necessary to understand and speak Spanish. The material continues to basic conversation patterns, expressions and grammar. Prerequisite: SPA-101. Cost: 3 credits of tuition.
Intercambio Spanish-English Language Exchange (2 credits)
Tuesdays, 6:30-8:50pm, Jan. 29-Apr. 30 (Glenwood)
This class focuses on true conversational practice of Spanish and English between native Spanish speakers and native English speakers. Spanish and English learners will meet together under the direction of facilitators to practice their target language in group and paired teams. Weekly meetings will focus on rotating between themes and cultural sharing. No class 3/12 and 3/26. Cost: 2 credits of tuition.
Spanish Language II (5 credits)
Mondays & Wednesdays, 4-6:20pm, Jan. 14-May 1 (Glenwood)
Expands students’ interpretive, interpersonal, and presentational communicative abilities in the language across the disciplines. Integrates these skills with the study of the cultures in which the language is used. Offers a foundation in the analysis of culture and develops intercultural communicative strategies. Cost: 5 credits of tuition.

Provides students with the skills necessary to continue their study of understanding and speaking Spanish. The material includes intermediate-level vocabulary, grammar, and expressions. Cost: 3 credits of tuition.
Conversational Spanish IV (3 credits)

Provides students the skills necessary to continue their study of understanding and speaking Spanish. The material will continue to cover intermediate level conversational patterns, expressions, and grammar. Cost: 3 credits of tuition.
Un Dia de Espanol, a Spanish Mini Immersion Series at CMC
Learn vocabulary and grammar focusing on particular topics. Students should have some Spanish exposure, but not too much. Students are responsible for their own meal and transportation as applicable. Bring paper, pen and your enthusiasm to learn.
Un Dia de Espanol: Medical
Saturday, 9am-1pm, Feb. 9 (Glenwood)
Focuses on medical/health related topics and filling out medical forms. Students also learn about different cultural components (relating to medical/health topics) of Spanish-speaking countries. This class is four hours of intensive language study and role-playing; it is especially appropriate for medical workers needing help working with their Spanish-speaking patients and persons who may be traveling to Spanish-speaking countries wanting to feel confident should they need to visit a medical facility. Cost: $53.
Un Dia de Espanol: Restaurante
Saturday, 9am-2pm, Mar. 9 (Glenwood)
Focuses on food and ordering at a restaurant. Students also practice money conversion and learn about different cultural components of Spanish-speaking countries. The class is broken into two segments: classroom learning and then a trip to an authentic Mexican restaurant for lunch and practice (speaking only Spanish!). Cost: $62.
Un Dia de Espanol: El Mercado
Saturday, 9am-2:30pm, Apr. 13 (Glenwood)
Focuses on things at a market or store. Students also practice money conversion and learn about different cultural components of Spanish-speaking countries. The class is broken into two segments: classroom learning followed by a treasure-hunting trip to Garcia’s Market in Carbondale (speaking only Spanish!). Between the classroom portion of the class and the visit to the market, students have half an hour for lunch (you are encouraged to eat at the lunch counter at Garcia’s Market). Students are responsible for their own meal. Cost: $62.
