Professional Photography Program Faculty
The faculty of the Professional Photography program consists of two full-time faculty members in addition to its adjunct faculty. Full-time and adjunct faculty members are working photographers specializing in a variety of photographic disciplines.
Derek Johnston, Associate Professor and Program Director Derek’s fine art landscape work has been exhibited across the country including at the Museum of Contemporary Photography in Chicago, IL. He has been honored with a Colorado Council on the Arts Grant in Visual Arts and is included in the critically acclaimed anthology, Photography’s Multiple Roles: Art, Market, Document, Science, published by the Museum of Contemporary Photography. Steven G. Smith, Associate Professor Steven has over twenty-five years of editorial photography experience. His work has appeared in some of the top publications around the world including Time, U.S. News and World Report, Life, Smithsonian, New York Times Magazine, MSNBC, GEO, and National Geographic. His images have also been recognized by some of the world’s most prestigious contests including the Pulitzer Prize (shared award), Pictures of the Year International, and The Best of Photojournalism.
