Professional Photography Program Faculty

The faculty of the Professional Photography program consists of two full-time faculty members in addition to its adjunct faculty. Full-time and adjunct faculty members are working photographers specializing in a variety of photographic disciplines.

Derek’s fine art landscape work has been exhibited across the country including at the Museum of Contemporary Photography in Chicago, IL. He has been honored with a Colorado Council on the Arts Grant in Visual Arts and is included in the critically acclaimed anthology, Photography’s Multiple Roles: Art, Market, Document, Science, published by the Museum of Contemporary Photography. Steven G. Smith, Associate Professor

CMC Professional Photography Associate Professor Steven G. Smith.Steven has over twenty-five years of editorial photography experience. His work has appeared in some of the top publications around the world including Time, U.S. News and World Report, Life, Smithsonian, New York Times Magazine, MSNBC, GEO, and National Geographic. His images have also been recognized by some of the world’s most prestigious contests including the Pulitzer Prize (shared award), Pictures of the Year International, and The Best of Photojournalism. Pulitzer Professor

Photography professor Steven G. Smith was part of a team of photojournalists that won a Pulitzer Prize for photos of Colorado wildfires.
