Hands On Animal Shelter Management.
Our Veterinary Technology Teaching Hospital is located on a 220-acre
farm overlooking the spectacular Elk Mountain Range
of central Colorado. Our Vet Farm provides opportunities
not found at most schools or colleges, especially for
studying large animals.
The Farm population averages 175 animals. You'll do hands on care for
horses, cattle, sheep, llamas and the usual assortment
of turkeys, chickens, dogs and cats. A collection of
exotic, laboratory and wild animals provides unusual veterinary care
situations. You can care daily for owls, eagles, lizards, tortoises
and several hawks.
The Colorado Animal Rescue (CARE) shelter located on the farm provides high quality care for animals awaiting adoption. This offers additional opportunities for students to learn how to care for these animals and operate a humane shelter.
