Careers
in Ski Areas Operations.
The Ski Area Operations program lets you choose the part of the mountain
you are most interested in. You may select from one
of four elective groups: The Slopes and Trails, Patrolling,
and Ropeway (ski lifts) options provide training
in mountain operations usually included in the price
of a lift ticket. The Ski Area Management option provides
training for jobs and careers in the area of general
management including accounting, economics, and supervision.
Graduates will receive an Associate in Applied Science
Degree in Ski Area Operations. Ski Area Operations graduates
are working throughout the world as international ski
area construction consultants, mountain managers, lift
managers, customer service and installation managers
for major ski lift companies, snowmaking managers,
sales representatives, snow groomers, grooming managers,
patrollers, guides, rental shop managers, ski instructors
and entrepreneurs.
Placement Statistics
More than ninety percent of the graduates of the
Ski Area Operations program have found jobs and
careers in the field within the first year. Of
these, eighty percent have advanced their employment
status within the second or third year of their
employment. Because of their broad knowledge of
ski resort operations and management work, our
graduates are promoted more quickly and often to higher positions
than those who just learn on the job.
