Dear CMC Student: I am pleased to know that you have applied to Colorado Mountain College. Our college is unique in many ways, not the least of which is our location in the heart of the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. Our Outdoor Education Program provides classes throughout the west from pristine Wilderness areas of Colorado to the deserts of Arizona. Regardless of your intended major at Colorado Mountain College, we encourage you to participate in Mountain Orientation August 14-19, a wilderness backpacking excursion with some additional meetings. This is the first course of the fall semester and will be credited to your fall class load. Click here to read more. Below are a number of documents related to the course. They include:
Below you will also find the following forms which must be completed and returned to me by August 11 (FAX 970-945-1227):
These forms require Adobe Acrobat. (Free download)
If you have questions about the type of equipment to purchase please call, (970) 260-6198. The right stuff in one geographic region may not be the same for the mountains of Colorado. Also, you should be working on getting yourself into reasonable cardiovascular shape. Do this by running, biking or doing aerobic activities 4-5 times per week. Walking up hills or workouts on Stairmasters are good training as well. I would recommend training with your backpack on with some weight in it. I look forward to your participation in Mountain Orientation. PS - Check out the Mountain "O" slideshow! |
