Outdoor Education Program Faculty Biographies.

Johann AbergerJohann Aberger
Has a B.S. in Outdoor Education from the University of New Hampshire. He taught as a field instructor for Second Nature Wilderness Program and America's Adventures in Utah and Alaska. He has ten years of technical climbing experience in ranges all over the world.

Tom Hays
Has been a member of the National Ski Patrol for over 30 years. He is the former avalanche advisor for the Rocky Mountain Division of the National Ski Patrol and is an avalanche trainer for members throughout the Rocky Mountain Area.

Diane Heald
Is a graduate of Colorado Mountain College. She is a former state champion gymnast, and has been an avid climber since 1984. She has been teaching rock climbing for CMC and other non-profit organizations since 1994.

Lindsay Herlinger
Received her B.S. in Geography with a minor is writing from Montana State University. She also holds a degree in Professional Photography and the Wilderness Studies Certificate of Completion from Colorado Mountain College. Lindsay specializes in sports photography and fine art printing, and currently works as a freelance photographer from her home in Carbondale.

Michael Hutton
Has been an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) since 1979 and worked for the Basalt Fire District and Ambulance Service for seven years. He has been a ski patrolman since 1976 and is the lead patrol person at Buttermilk Ski Area. He has been teaching bike maintenance and leading biking and trekking trips for many years.

Bruce KimeBruce Kime
Has a B.S. in education from Oklahoma State University, an M.S. in recreation and parks administration from the University of Oklahoma, and is a graduate of the National Outdoor Leadership School. He is a finalist candidate for a Ph.D. in higher education and adult studies at the University of Denver. He is an Associate Professor of Outdoor Education at Colorado Mountain College.

Mia TucholkeMia Tucholke
Has a degree in Chemical Engineering, a B.S. in Environmental Science and an Outdoor Education Certficate from CMC. She has been teaching and leading outdoor courses since 1993. Her teaching experience has been in rock and ice climbing, snow and river orientation, and mountaineering. Mia has tought skiing for 12 years at Breckinridge and Vail and has worked on Vail Ski Patrol for 5 years. She has also been a river guide for 10 years.
