Occupational Safety and Health Jobs & Careers

Career opportunities for trained Occupational Safety and Health professionals continue to grow in response to increased demands for safe production of energy and manufactured goods. Cities, communities, industries, hospitals, university labs and government agencies depend on the skills of OSH Professionals to preserve job and workplace safety — and to protect the environment from industrial accidents.

In addition, your two-year Associate’s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health lays the groundwork for you to pursue an advanced degree in any number of related fields, such as public health, engineering, biology or chemistry.

Your AAS degree in Occupational Safety and Health provides the foundation you’ll need to pursue advanced credentials through several key organizations.

The Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) awards the Certified Safety Professional Credential, while the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH) offers a Certified Associate Industrial Hygienist credential.
All advanced credentialing options require additional hours and exams for completion. Credentials are currently optional, but more and more industries are beginning to require certification, which makes training for this job or career ever more important.
