Our Natural Resource Management Institute provides many environmental
projects in which students gain valuable experience
and credits. They are also paid for this work while
attending our environmental college program.
Past projects have included aquatic and terrestrial
evaluations and restoration projects.
Caring for and Exploring Your Environment
The Natural Resource Management program combines
the best of outdoor education adventure with academic
classes geared toward protecting, maintaining and
planning for natural resources. Our graduates will
have an understanding of:
Social, biological, and physical sciences that underlie sound land use planning and management.
Ecology, its application to the management and use of environmental
resources.
Co-management efforts between governmental agencies and the public.
The principles and practices of recreation and stewardship and the use of natural resources and the ability to interpret them to the general public.
Both traditional and innovative management, including development of budgets for operations and capital improvements, revenue generation and accountability, pricing of services, cost analysis and financial forecasting.
The relationship of business, society and the economy, and the role of recreation and natural resource management
Skills necessary to lead and manage outdoor trips including conflict resolution, group dynamics, team building, critical thinking, technical skills and insurance/permitting/recreation planning.
Use of remote sensing and geographic information systems as applied to land use management.
