Historic Preservation College Curriculum.

The Historic Preservation Program is a blend of classroom, technical andHistoric ranch preservation. experiential learning. Groundwork knowledge you’ll receive in introductory courses will guide you as you advance through the curriculum.

It’s essential that preservationists are equipped with handcrafting skills. An elemental part of your training at Colorado Mountain College is an emphasis on the core materials sciences of wood, masonry and metals. In the lab, you will learn crafting skills from experienced craftsmen instructors, and you’ll get the feel of using both modern and vintage tools and equipment.

You have many choices to tailor your training to your own interests.  Our two-year degree program is comprehensive and varied, building your knowledge in all segments of the conservation and preservation discipline while also providing an internship component.

You may choose instead to pursue one of seven certificate programs, ranging from the generalist track, to other tracks focusing more specifically on woodcrafting, construction, decorative arts, masonry, metal, or preservation research.  Certificate programs can be completed in as little as one year.
