Curriculum for your Professional Fly Fishing Guide Career!
Current Curriculum
The Fly Fish Guiding Program at Colorado Mountain College is designed as a one semester in-residence program for summer semester. You will begin in mid-May, finishing six weeks later. When you successfully complete the program you will receive a Certificate of Proficiency Fly Fish Guide.
Courses include:
First Two Weeks
· Intro to Fly Fish Guiding
· Medic First Aid/CPR
· Outdoor Recreation Leadership
Final Four Weeks
· Managing a Small Business
· Aquatic Entomology
· Advanced Fly Fish Guiding
These courses are grouped into two sub-groups. The first group includes FFG 100, HPR 115, and OUT 211. This group is taught during the first two weeks of the program. The remainder of the program is covered during the final 4 weeks of the program. This allows a student the potential of completion of the whole fly fishing program in one six week period or attending the two week program first, then the four week program the following summer. |
