This program provides training in bilingual elementary education for students who are seeking an elementary education degree in Spanish and Colorado teacher licensure. An agreement with Metropolitan State College of Denver allows you to transfer your courses from this program to Metro State's Department of Elementary Education. Through Metro State you may earn a bachelor's degree with a bilingual endorsement. You will be admitted to MSCD as a junior with no loss of credit. In addition, all advanced coursework can be done at Colorado Mountain College without having to relocate to Denver for your junior and senior years. In addition to the Colorado State Guaranteed Transfer Curriculum, the program emphasizes multicultural education and the Spanish language and culture. Courses such as Teaching Strategies: Multicultural Diversity, Chicano History of the Southwest and 6 levels of Spanish classes provide the student with the background necessary to be successful in today's diverse classrooms. |
