Nursing Jobs and Careers
The Associate Degree Program in Nursing provides the opportunity to become a Registered Nurse (RN). The RN assumes more responsibility for client care and gives total care that may include supervising other healthcare providers in hospitals, clinics, schools, mental health facilities and home health.
Nursing requires a positive attitude in working with people from different age groups and from different cultures and backgrounds. Because the field of medical healthcare is always changing and the knowledge base is ever expanding, nurses must make a commitment to be life-long learners. There are continually many career and job opportunities in medicine.
Nurses may find jobs in almost any city. But rural communities especially need nurses to work in a variety of settings utilizing many skills. Colorado Mountain College nursing school graduates have secured positions in long-term care facilities, obstetrics. emergency rooms, medical/surgical units and physician offices to name a few. Some have enrolled in colleges or universities to continue their education.
You may also want to pursue other challenges by transferring to a university to obtain a bachelor's degree or become a nursing specialist in a particular area such as emergency nursing, medical/surgical nursing, geriatrics, obstetrics, oncology, or pediatrics.
