Advantages

  • Link directly to journal articles and books available in the CMC Virtual Library collection, providing your students with easy access to supplementary and required readings
  • Satisfy copyright requirements that limit the amount of reading materials you can provide for your students at no charge

Step by Step Instructions

A large number of CMC Library databases allow you to link directly to articles and books available in their collection. Find an article or a book you would like your students to read. Then, follow instructions below.

Link to Journal and Magazine Articles

  • Step 1
    In Blackboard create "External Link".
  • Step 2
    When asked to enter URL start with the following prefix: http://cmclibraries.coloradomtn.edu/login?auth=cmcezproxy&url=  used to redirect Blackboard students to the Virtual Library resources without additional authentication.
  • Step 3
    Find an article you want in one of the databases listed below. Copy persistent link (URL) for that article and add it to the prefix. URL example
  • Examples of article links
    • EBSCOhost databases:
      Academic Search Premier, Business Source Premier, MAS Ultra - School Edition, CINAHL, Regional Business News
      , and others.

    • Wilson OmniFile Full Text Select database:

      Hold your cursor over the desired link and right click your mouse. Select (depending upon the browser being used) Copy Shortcut (Internet Explorer), Copy Link Address (Netscape), or Copy Link Location (Firefox).
    • ProQuest Medical Library database:

Link to Books from netLibrary database

  • Step 1
    In Blackboard create "External Link".
  • Step 2
    When asked to enter URL start with the following prefix: http://cmclibraries.coloradomtn.edu/login?auth=cmcezproxy&url=http://www.netlibrary.com/urlapi.asp?action=summary&v=1&bookid=
  • Step 2
    Find the book you want. Copy "Product ID" and add it to the prefix.

What if I don't Use Blackboard

If you do not use Blackboard follow these instructions to create necessary URLs.
