  • CSU BIOWEB: From California State University Stanislaus, this site features a comprehensive listing of annotated biology resources available on the Internet, searchable by specific field.
  • eNature.com: This searchable nature portal offers online searchable field guides to over 4,800 plant and animal species derived from 35 different Audubon Society Field Guides, Regional Guides, and Nature Guides.
  • Genetic Engineering Homepage: A Project of the Church of Scotland's Society, Religion and Technology Project developed to provide access to information dealing with genetic engineering.
  • Human Gene Map Site: Presented by the National Center for Biotechnology Center, this site is browsable by chromosome number.
  • Human Genome Project Information: Funded by the U.S. Department of Energy, this searchable site provides access to a wealth of information on the U.S. Human Genome Project.
  • Human Genome Resources: Maintained by the National Center for Biotechnology Information, this site serves as a central access point to database resources for human genome researchers.
  • Infomine: Scholarly Internet Resource Collections: The University of California's search engine for biological, agricultural and medical Internet resources.
  • Integrated Taxonomic Information System: A project of U.S., Canadian and Mexican agencies cooperating on the development of an on-line, scientifically credible, list of biological names focusing on the biota of North America.
  • Kimball's Biology Pages: An online reference manual designed for introductory students.
  • National Academy of Sciences: Select "Focus Areas" to access online publications dealing with physical sciences, life sciences, computer science, mathematics and environment and earth sciences.
  • National Biological Information Infrastructure: A cooperative effort lead by the Biological Resources Division of the U.S. Geological Survey, the NBII is an electronic gateway to biological data and information maintained by federal, state, and local government agencies; private sector organizations; and other partners around the nation and the world.
  • Nature: The International Weekly Journal of Science: This site contains searchable news summaries, a collection of full text and web-only materials and the table of contents and articles summaries for the last four issues.
  • Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man: This project of the National Center for Biotechnology Information is a database of human genes and genetic disorders authored and edited by Dr. Victor A. McKusick of Johns Hopkins.
  • Science News Online: A searchable site containing full text articles from the current issue, as well as back issues from 1996 on.
  • Science Online : A searchable site featuring summaries and full text of selected articles from an archive of issues dating from June 30 1995.
  • Scientific American: A searchable site featuring full text of selected articles of past issues from January 1996 on.
  • The Tree of Life: A collection of over 1630 World Wide Web pages containing information about the diversity of life. These pages are housed on 20 computers in four countries, and are authored by biologists from around the world.
  • The Virtual Library of Ecology, biodiversity, and the Environment: A searchable site from Rice University that includes information on global sustainability, endangered species and pollution.
  • World Conservation Monitoring Centre: This site provides access to a varied collection of databases concerning nature conservation, including species, protected areas and marine resources.
