Your Historic Preservation education is hands-on.

You’ll have ample opportunitiesBefore and after photos of restoration project. to apply your skills to real world preservation tasks.  Nearby the college campus is the Hayden Ranch, a National Register Historic District.  In partnership with Colorado Preservation, Inc., the 35 acre historic site with its 16 buildings and structures serves as an off-campus preservation laboratory for you to refine your building and handcrafting skills, in turn allowing you to contribute to the conservation of this historic cultural landscape.

The skills you develop through this hands-on education experience make you an excellent candidate for a variety of jobs and careers in the industry.  You may also want to start your own preservation or restoration business, and this program will give you the skills to do so!

Besides Hayden Ranch, you will have the opportunity to explore and work on historic sites throughout Colorado and beyond.  If you’re interested in more distant excursions, you might consider a number of study abroad options offered by the college. As a student, you may qualify for work-study and apprenticeship positions with practicing preservation and restoration professionals.
