Partnerships with Career Services
There are a variety of ways that we work with academic units, as we seek to increase communication across our college regarding the importance of career development for our students and alumni.
Here are a few ways that we can complement your efforts to better serve our students. Consider incorporating Career Services into your class in the following ways:
- Conduct workshops on various topics, including potential career paths related to a major.
- Make brief presentations to your class about career related resources available to CMC students.
- Collaborate with us through jointly developed and tailored programs that can foster understanding of your discipline's relationship to potential career choices.
- Work with you to customize a program plan that is tailored to your students' needs and/or course outcomes.
- We are always interested in discussing strategies that work best for each individual situation.
Overall, we invite you and your department to work with us to create meaningful and substantive experience for all CMC students.

Referring Students to Career Services
Career Services works with students at every academic level, from first year student to those getting ready to graduate and beyond. Our services and resources cover a wide range of career topics, including the full time jobs and internship search, and applying to graduate and professional schools. Students may connect with Career Services in many ways:
- to work with Career Services to assist them in finding out answers to some of their complex questions. Our office helps students to understand their own motivations, likes and dislikes, strengths and skills. We also provide a wide range of information about particular majors or associated career fields, both basic and in-depth.
- to find a job or an internship. CMC has an on-line job posting system through which students can apply for jobs. Please feel free to refer employers to us; we are always happy to learn of new opportunities for students.
- to have their resumes, cover letters and other career documents reviewed and critiqued.
- to participate in mock interviews. Career Services gathers a panel of appropriate mock interviewers relevant to the student's field of interest and conducts a one-on-one mock interview that both prepares and offers guidance for the interviewee on the best practices of interviewing.
- to learn about the etiquette of networking, including how to appropriately utilize social media networking sites.
If you are approached by a student who is seeking help in one or more of these areas, please feel to use us, refer the student to us or give us a call if you like. We welcome your involvement. You can reach Career Services via email at careerservices@coloradomtn.edu or by phone at (970) 947-8319.
