Evaluations

Evaluations are an important source of feedback and input for students, teachers and staff. The purpose of Colorado Mountain College’s faculty evaluation system is two-fold:

1. To assist faculty members in ascertaining and improving their performance in the classroom, the College will monitor the classroom experience of students as it relates to the faculty’s instructional effectiveness.

2. To serve as a factor in consistent personnel decisions.

Written student evaluations and/or staff observations are both part of the evaluation process. Not every class will be evaluated each semester. If you wish to have your class evaluated, the request should be addressed to your instructional supervisor.

The faculty evaluation system will evaluate CMC’s effectiveness in achieving institutional and instructional goals. Instruments of the system include:

1. Faculty observation and conferencing

2. Student course/instructor evaluation questionnaire

3. Faculty appraisal of College services

4. Faculty self-evaluation

5. Professional growth planThe evaluation system focuses on areas of appraisal of the teaching/learning process. The areas of appraisal include:

• Teaching and instructional delivery

• Subject matter content

• Student orientation

• Learning environment

• Professionalism

• Service
