Vail Eagle Valley Faculty

The faculty of the Vail-Eagle Valley Campus has distinguished representatives from many of the major universities in the United States, such as Baylor, Regis University, University of Illinois, Yale, University of New Mexico, University of Colorado at Boulder, and Texas Christian University. Skilled practitioners blend their professional experience and educational training in the classroom.

Campus offerings help heighten students' critical thinking abilities. The faculty present the students with pragmatic situations from a real life environment to enhance their problem solving skills.

DAN AGUILAR has more than 20 years of experience climbing mountains around the world and 18 years as a member of the Vail Mountain Rescue Group in Colorado. As climbing leader for the 1993 and 1995 American expeditions to Mt. Everest, he abandoned his climb just short of the final summit in order to assist Sherpas in the recovery of the bodies of two climbers.  The unselfishness of his action was widely acclaimed.  Dan finally reached the summit of Mt.Everest in 1995. MARY ANDERSON was educated in Minnesota, moved to Colorado 1967 as an elementary school teacher.  Now retired, she now spends her time with quiltmaking, wool appliqué, primitive doll making and weaving.  She belongs to the Colorado Quilt Council and several guilds in the Arkansas Valley. Beginning Quiltmaking.

JAN ATTOMA, BA in Fine Arts, MEd in Education with an emphasis in Social, Multicultural & Bilingual Foundations of Education is Associate Professor of ESL, and has been the lead ESL teacher for the CMC ESL Program since 1997, has operated her own Spanish/English language service, and has spent time in Spain, Costa Rica, Mexico and Guatemala.  English as a Second Language

GEORGE BAGWELL, MA in Anthropology/Psychology, BA in Social Sciences/History, has been an instructor at San Diego Mesa College and University of California.  He is a former CMC Alpine Campus Dean, currently teaching Anthropology and Psychology at CMC’s Alpine Campus.  George was “Colorado Distance Educator of the Year” in 1999 and CMC “Faculty of the Year” in 2000.  Teleweb Courses

DEAN H. BARCHERS, has a BS in Electrical Engineering from Oklahoma Christian University and an M.S. in Applied Mathematics from The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.  He is a mathematics faculty member at Red Rocks Community College.  Teleweb Courses

SHERI BASHFORD attended Eastfield Community College and South Methodist University in Dallas,Texas majoring in Social Work with an emphasis on drugs, alcohol and aging.  She has certifications in Neuromuscular Bodywork and Massage Therapy and as a Quickbooks Pro Advisor member.  Currently her company, Colorado Omni Enterprise, Inc. provides services in business management, bookkeeping, professional organization, and absent homeowner care.  She continues to provide therapeutic massage and bodywork.

LOUIS BEATTY earned his Master of Science degree from Old Dominion University.   He holds a Certificate in Computer Applications from C.U. Boulder and is a Certified Novell Engineer.  He is Microsoft certified in Microsoft Word.  Louis is a Professor and Microcomputer Program Coordinator at CMC’s Summit Campus.  Teleweb Courses

CURT BENDER has an MBA and a BA from Western State College.  He is Professor of Ski Area Operations at CMC’s Timberline Campus. Ski Area Operations.

JANA BROWN has been a resident of the Vail Valley for 14 years.  Originally she is from Oxford, Ohio where she attended Miami University of Ohio and studied Political Science.  In 1999, she attended the Colorado Institute for Classical Homeopathy in Boulder Colorado for three years.  There she received her Classical Homeopathy Certification.  Jana has guest taught at Yarmony Mountain Herbal College for the past three years.  Currently she is practicing out of her home in Vail as well as house calls.  Health

ROBERT BUMP is a National Board Certified Acupuncturist, AOBTA Certified Instructor of Zen Shiatsu, Chinese Herbalist, and a Professional Member of the National Qi Gong/Chi Kung Association, Who has been studying and practicing energy arts for more than thirty years.  Robert has lived and Worked in Eagle County since 1988.  He now practices at The Omni Center for Health and Wellness in Avon.  Chinese Medicine

LIZZY BURNETT has a BA in Psychology, and a minor in Health Sciences from Clemson University,Clemson, SC.  She has an EMT-B certificate from CMC, and is employed as an NREMT.P for the Eagle County Health Sciences Group in Edwards.  EMT

JUDY SHAY BURNS is a graduate of the Mannes College of Music in New York City and earned her Masters of Music from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She was awarded the Richard F. Gold career grant from Mannes, the Spencer Scholarship from CU Boulder and was also awarded a scholarship from the Aspen Music Festival.  She has received critical acclaim for her portrayal of operatic and musical theatre heroines.  Judy's recent performances include: Susanna, The Marriage of Figaro; Baby Doe, The Ballad of Baby Doe; and Adele, Die Fledermaus. PAM BURWELL has a BA in Philosophy and Comparative Religions from Regis University.   She completed an MA in Humanities/Asian Studies from California State University. She has also completed graduate coursework in Native American Studies through University of Denver.  She was named the Alpine Campus Adjunct Faculty of the Year in 2001.  Pam is the Accounts Manager at CMC's Alpine Campus. DAVID CABIN has been working and living in the Eagle Valley for fifteen years.  He has a BA in Small Business and Entrepreneurship and is currently the Network Specialist for the Eagle County School District.  For the past seven years, David has been traveling the country to study Tai Chi Chuan.  Physical Education

NANCY CAIN has a B.S. in Biology from Colorado State University and an M.A. in Education and Science from Adams State College.  She is Associate Professor of Math and Science at CMC’s Timberline Campus.  Teleweb Courses

KIMBERLY CARMICHAEL has a BA in History and a minor in Sociology from Ft. Lewis College.  She completed an M.A. in Agency Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapy at the University of Northern Colorado where she did additional graduate work in History and taught Colorado History.  Kimberly completed her graduate work at Adams State College for her state certification with the CDE as a school counselor.  Kimberly has taught both Sociology and Colorado History for CMC in addition to providing Individual and Family Counseling in the community. Teleweb Courses

JACKLYN CLAY took her first stained glass class at CMC in 1979 and has continued to improve her craftsmanship over the years. Her work can be found at the Vilar Center of the Arts in Beaver Creek and many businesses and private homes throughout the Vail Valley.  Fine Arts

Kent Clement, Ph.D., Kent earned his B.S. from California State University; his M.A. from Western Illinois University; and his Ph.D. from Colorado State University.  He is Associate Professor of Outdoor Recreation Leadership at CMC’s Timberline Campus.

JOHN COFFEY was trained by the Army in Automotive Mechanics.  He advanced to Quality Control where he trained men and women in auto repair.  After the Army, he had a 12 man crew maintaining aircraft for an airline.  After 9/11 he was laid off due to the airlines going out of business.  He worked for Broussard’s Exxon in New York for one year and then moved to Colorado and was hired by CMC.Automotives

JULIA CONRAD earned her BS degree from the University of Utah and her MA from Western State College, Gunnison; both of Julia’s degrees are in Special Education.  She has worked in the educationally handicapped program with the Parachute School District and is, at present, a teacher at Esma Lewis School in Rifle, Colorado.  Teleweb Courses

MARY ELLEN COPE was a long time Vail Resorts ski instructor and recently became certified as a Pilates Mat instructor for levels 1, 2 and 3.  Physical Activities

TAMAR CORDOVER was trained as a classical dancer from a young age.  She has taught ballet and other forms of dance, and been exposed to the Pilates method of achieving kinesthetic awareness, strength and flexibility.  She began teaching Pilates based limbering and strengthening classes to ballet students, and kids with great results Physical Activities

LEE COX has a B.A. in Mathematics and Religion from Middlebury College and an M.A. in Applied Mathematics from the University of Colorado-Boulder.  Teleweb Courses

MARGARET DE LA ROSA, B.A. in Elementary Education from the Incarnate Word College in San Antonio, Texas.  She earned a Special Education certification and a M.A. in Education from Pan American University in Edinburg, Texas.  She taught for 25 years  and worked as an administrator for five years at the elementary level in Texas schools.  Foreign Languages, English as a Second Language   

BRIAN DONALDSON was educated at the Creighton University School of Medicine as an EMT-Paramedic.  Has taught at St. Mary’s EMS Outreach from 2002 to the present   He has been involved in pre-hospital care since the early 1980’s and was a participant in the Iowa automated external defibrillator study which resulted in the widespread use of AED’s in the pre-hospital setting.  He has instructor certifications in many medical disciplines and has been a presenter at emergency medical and nursing conferences.  He is currently working part-time for Western Eagle County Ambulance District and is certified as an NREMT-I/99 and as an Iowa EMT-Paramedic.

LARRY DUTMER, MEd in Counseling, BS in Business, is the counselor for the CMC Vail Center.  He worked in higher education in the Chicago area counseling as well as teaching career exploration and student success classes prior to his arrival at CMC in August 1996.  Business

TOM EHRENBERG, BA, assisted in developing the Drivers’ Education Program for CMC.  He has taught Drivers’ Education for the Eagle Center since 1999.  Drivers’ Education

DEBRA FARMER has an MA in Special Education from the University of Colorado.  She holds a BA in Education from Metro State College and a BA in Psychology and Biology from the University of Colorado.  She is currently the Special Populations Coordinator at CMC’s Alpine Campus.  Teleweb Courses

EZEQUIEL FERRAROS, studied Public Accountancy and Image and Sound Design at Buenos Aires National University in Argentina where he also received an Advanced Diploma in English. In Argentina, Zeek used his bilingual abilities in guest services in the resort industry.  In Eagle County, he is employed by Alpine Bank and also has his own computer consulting business, Computer Systems Management. LINDA FRAZER is a long-time Valley resident.  She has been dancing for 15 years.  Linda has danced at Imperial Fez in Vail and the Kasbah in Florida.  Her teacher is SufiMaster Adman Sarhan.  She has also studied under Susan Oak Vecchio, Tasha Banat and various others to combine music and spirit.  Dance 

ELAINE FRENCH eceived her MFA from the University of Memphis.  Undergraduate studies were at the Boston Museum School of Fine Arts, the University of Hawaii and the Memphis College of Art where she received her BFA.  Prior to moving to Eagle-Vail in 1999, Ms. French spent four years drawing and painting in New York City at the Art Students League.  She received several awards from the League for figure drawings and two work/study scholarships for painting.  While in New York she also received a painting award in the juried expedition, “Today’s American Artists”, held in the Federal Hall national memorial Building.  Her work is found in the corporate collections of Federal Express, Target, and Kroger, in the Tennessee State Museum and in private collections in Tennessee and New York.  She has taught art to children of all ages in academic and non-academic classes.  Fine Art

ELLEN GANNON has run her own business, Vail Valley Decorative Painting, a high-end wall finish and decorative painting company, since 1999. Over the years, she has taken numerous painting classes to upgrade and learn new techniques. Ellen also works seasonally for Vail Resorts. Arts

BRANDT GEYERMAN has a BA in Philosophy from the University of St. Thomas.  He received his JD from William Mitchell College of Law.  He is currently working on a Master's in Philosophy/Teaching Environmental Ethics at the University of Montana, Missoula.  He has taught philosophy, political science, and American government at Colorado Mountain College.  Teleweb Courses

URSULA GILGULIN has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, and a Master of Fine Arts degree from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York.  She has completed additional course work in art from Aspen School of Contemporary Art and has worked as an art educator in public and higher education as well as a city planner for New York City.  Teleweb Courses

JEAN ALEXANDER GITCHELL has an International Business and Marketing BS/BA with an emphasis in Spanish from the University of Colorado. She has conducted business in several international markets including Latin America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Japan. She is currently employed by Colorado Ski Country USA and is responsible for the implementation and enhancement of their international marketing program. As part of her job she travels extensively in Latin America. Foreign Languages

CAROL GIULIANI has a BA in Spanish from Michigan State University, but is a student of many languages: Spanish, Italian, Greek and French. She has worked abroad as a ski patroller and in the hotel industry as well as studied abroad in Italy, Spain and Mexico. Foreign Languages

DONNA GRAY has an M.A. degree in Archeology/Anthropology from Colorado State University.  She has worked as an archaeologist for public and private entities.  Her undergraduate degree in English Literature has provided her with an extensive career in journalism and public relations.  She is the arts and entertainment editor for the Glenwood Post Independent.  Teleweb Courses

MIKE GRIFFIN has a BA and MA in Communication Studies from the University of Northern Iowa.  His research has focused on Rhetorical Theories and Political Communication.  His experiences include speech writing and working with communications teams on various political campaigns. Communications

GARY GURNEY has an MA in Psychotherapy from the University of Northern Colorado and a BS in Psychology from North Adams State College in North Adams, Massachusetts.  He is a licensed professional psychotherapist.  He has his own psychotherapy practice in Craig and Steamboat Springs, Colorado.  Teleweb Courses

KITTY GWATHMEY began tapping at a young age and continued dancing at Michigan State University.  She performed with a Northwestern group called “Off the Ground,” choreographed “The King and I” in Bombay, India, and performed in Washington, DC performances of “Sleeping Beauty” and Guys and Dolls.”  Dance

ED HAYDUK is a Professor of Occupational Safety and Health and the Coordinator of Apprenticeship at Colorado Mountain College.  He is certified for:  Occupational Safety & Health Act, Mine Safety & Health Act, American Red Cross First Aid & CPR, and Electrical Instruction for MSHA Surface & Underground Mining.  He has a B.S. from Penn State University.  IVS 

TERRESA HERBST has a BS and MA from the University of New Mexico.  Her MA is in Curriculum and Instruction in Multicultural Teacher Education.  She was previously the Academic Director of Vail Valley Academy and has been a resident of the Vail Valley since 1994 and has taught for the College since 1997.  Her experiences in the educational areas range from being a secondary teacher of Mathematics and Science in Taos, New Mexico, teaching for the University of New Mexico, conducting research at Los Alamos National Laboratories and White Sands Test Facility.  Mathematics

ROBERT HINTERMEISTER, PhD and MS in Exercise Science, BS in Biology, is currently self-employed as a computers, exercise science and forensic biomechanics consultant.  He is also an A+ certified computer technician. Computers, Health Science

RICHARD HOWARD earned his BA in Political Science from Carleton College, his MBA from Vanderbilt University, and his JD from Southern Methodist University.  He is a Colorado licensed attorney and real estate broker. Real Estate

TRACI INGRAM has a Master of Art degree in Math and Science earned through her participation in the NASA-sponsored Master Teacher Cadre.  She has 16 years experience in education, with the last 7 years as Technology Director for a K-12 institution.  Traci also teaches online graduate courses for the University of Missouri and conducts face-to-face workshops for a variety of organizations.  Accounting,Teleweb Courses

ROSALIE ISOM earned a Diplome Approfondi (Expert Certification) from the Alliance Francaise, Paris and a BA degree with emphasis on French from Oregon State University. Teaching and translating French at home complement sojourns in southern France where she gathers material for a book about the French and their language.  Her company - Word For Word - offers writing, editing, and foreign language services.  Foreign Language

BARBARA JACKMAN Completed a BS in Special Education and an MS in Early Childhood Education at the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire.  Barbara has worked in the early childhood field for 19 years and is currently working as a consultant.  Her two major focus areas are early childhood teacher training/mentoring and mental health in early childhood. KURT KEISER, AAS; BLS; BS; IFSAC Fire Officer II, Instructor III, Inspector II, Fire Fighter II, has been in the fire service for over 29 years, recently retiring as a fire chief for the Bethlehem Steel Fire Department, and deputy fire chief of the Chesterton (IN) Fire Department.  Kurt is Assistant Professor and Coordinator of the Fire Science Program, and a volunteer for the Greater Eagle Fire Protection District.  Fire Science

MIKE KERST is the Battalion Chief of the Avon Fire Department and has 18 years of fire service.  He is certified as a Fire Instructor, Fire Officer, Haz-Mat Technician, EMT-Basic, and Crash Fire Rescuer for Aircraft.  Mike earned an AA degree from NIC and attended the National Fire Academy.  Fire Science

BARRY KIRKPATRICK has a BS in Pharmacy from Ferris State College in Big Rapids, Michigan.  He has done graduate studies in administration at Central Michigan University.  He has taught organic chemistry at CMC’s Timberline Campus and has over twelve years experience in retail and hospital pharmacies.  Teleweb Courses

KEITH LAMBERT, MA, Keith has a BS and MA from Northern Arizona University and an MS from Lesley College.   He has taught math, drafting, general education development (GED), master student, effective teaching, educational skills, critical thinking, and introduction to education.  Teleweb Courses

MARK LAPKA has a BS from the University of Maryland and his MEd from Lamar University.  Mark has taught criminal justice workshops and specialized training for workers dealing with special populations in Texas and Colorado.  He teaches sociology at CMC and works for the Colorado Department of Human Services.  TelewebCourses

MALINDA LARSON has a BS and MA in Medical Technology, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Learning Disabilities.  Has a teaching certificate in ND, MN and CO with 15 years experience in Effective Teaching Strategies. Presently employed by Vail Christian School as Head of the Science Dept.  Medical Terminology

RACHELLE LAZAR M.S.W., is a psychotherapist in private practice in the Vail area.  Ms. Lazar immigrated to Israel Colorado. In Israel, Ms. Lazar was the director of a mental health clinic with offices in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. She has returned to Colorado recently and is excited about sharing her first hand knowledge of the Middle East Ms. Lazar received a B.S. in Psychology from Colorado Christian University, in Lakewood Colorado, where she minored in Biblical Studies.  She received her Masters in Social Work and a Masters Certificate in Judaic Studies from the University of Denver, in Denver.Colorado. Ms. Lazar will begin work on her PhD. in Psychology in the fall of 2004.

STEVE LEE MS and BS in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence, taught Computer Science classes at Baylor University for two years before going to work for McDonnell Douglas, when he also taught at Mary Hardin Baylor.  He then took a job with Hughes and taught at the University of Texas.  He then co-founded an industry leading e-Learning company called Allen Interactions, which has recently scaled back, allowing Steve to return to teaching.  Information Technology, Distance Education

YULIYA YLEF MLS., Yuliya has a BA in Humanities from the University of Colorado at Boulder and Master of Library Science from the Indiana University at Bloomington.  She is the Virtual Library Coordinator for Colorado Mountain College. Distance Education

NICHOLAS LOETSCHER has been an English instructor since he graduated from college in 1978.  He has a BA and MA in English from the University of Northern Colorado.  Humanities

JOHN LOGAN did his training in Colorado and Arizona.  He has taught flying at Due West Aviation at the Eagle Airport for the past five years.

JOHN LOWERY, BA, MA in Gerontology.  Mr. Lowery is presently the Eagle County Senior Services Coordinator.  This position provides information and assistance to older adults and their providers/families, along with many other responsibilities.  Health

F. BLAKE LYNCH is a lawyer with the firm of Larsen & Lynch LLC located in Edwards.  Mr. Lynch received a BA in history from Rutgers University and a Master of Public Administration degree from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.  He received his Juris Doctor from the University of Denver.  In addition to his practice of law, Mr. Lynch has prior work experience in city government, real estate development and municipal bond investment baking.  He served as a member of the Eagle County Planning Commission from 1997 to 2002.  Business

BOBBI MALLETT  worked for the Vail Orthopedic and Sports Medicine for several years as the RN Liason.  She will be teaching Orientation to Pharmacy and Medical Terminology. 

SUSAN MARCH has a BA in Education from the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire, and an MA in Education from Lesley College, Massachusetts.  A K-12 art teacher of 23 years, she taught nine years in Madison, Wisconsin, three years on the Front Range, and 11 years in the Eagle County School District.  She recently moved from Eagle Valley Middle School to Eagle Valley High School.  Arts  

MELODY MASSIH, J.D., Melody has a B.A. from the University of Iowa, with a major in Communication Studies and a minor in English.  She received her J.D. from Creighton University School of Law, and has been practicing law for 10 years.  She has worked at University of Denver College of Law and at the Colorado Attorney General's Office.  Melody is currently practicing law at a private law firm in Glenwood Springs. BETH MATTHEWS, AFFA certified, worked for the Marriott Streamside for 17 years and also taught Resort Management classes for CMC for six years.    She is the Director of Sales and Marketing for Western Slope Laundry.  Physical Activities

BOB L. MCGILL has an Electrical Engineering degree and a MA degree from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, Maryland.  Bob has taught high school physics and a variety of community college courses in mathematics and engineering.  IVS Courses 

JEAN MCQUEENEY earned her BA from SUNY Genesco in Special Education and Elementary Education and her MA from the University of New Mexico in Early Childhood Education and Special Education.  Jean worked for five years in Albuquerque in early childhood programs and in Eagle County for the Eagle County School District in their preschool program.  Early Childhood Education

JAMES MIDDLETON graduated with honors in Computer Aided Architectural Drafting (c.a.a.d) from Westwood College of Technology in Denver, Colorado.  Jim is the owner of Straightline Drafting, LLC, a local drafting service and has been a resident of the Vail Valley for 14 years.  He was previously a member of the National Education Committee for the Professional Ski Instructors Association (PSIA) and still works as a ski educator of Telemark, Nordic and Alpine skiing.  CAD

SEBASTIAN RODRIGUEZ MELAGREJO, a native Spanish speaker, earned a BA and MA in Psychology from Universidad de Salvador in Buenos Aires, Argentina.  As a graduate student he assisted and instructed psychology students.  Sebastian has worked around the world, in Italy, Spain, Argentina and the United States as a ski instructor. He has also taught skiing to individuals with disabilities through the Joseph P. Kennedy Foundation as well as assisting in the coordination of the Argentinean Special Olympics.  Foreign Languages

SCHEREZADA MILFELD, BA in Public Relations, was born and educated in Venezuela, where she worked in the public relations field for eight years, six of which were spent as a Manager/Head of Publicity and Public Relations for two Venezuelan newspapers.  Developmental Studies, Dance

JACQUELINE OGDEN, POST and CLETA certified, is a Code Enforcement Officer with the Vail Police Department. She attended CMC and has studied law enforcement.  Drivers’ Education

KATHERINE OSTEN is a National Certified Counselor, has an MA in Counseling Psychology from the University of Colorado at Denver, and is a member of the American Counseling Association. She runs a private practice in Eagle-Vail and also sees clients in Frisco and Eagle.  Social and Behavioral Sciences

LIZ OWENS, BS, was certified as a paramedic in 1981.  Most recently, Liz comes from Aims Community College where she was a professor in the EMS department.  Prior to her position at Aims, Liz spent about 15 years as Adjunct Faculty for CMC, teaching a variety of EMS classes from First Aid through Paramedic.  Additional experiences included, hyperbaric chamber technician, ALS provider in Kansas City, Missouri, and extensive experience practicing and teaching wilderness medicine.

KAY SCHNEIDER has taught American Sign Language classes for Vail Associates and the Town of Vail.  In 1995 she was awarded a competitive federal grant to serve as the regional affiliate to the ADA Technical Assistance Center. He initiated a work-abroad program for other engineering students, and went to Munich, Germany for two years and worked for Siemens AG Corporate Research & Development designing computer chips. JOE SCHUM has been in the fire service for 10 years and is currently an Engineer/Driver Operator for the Eagle River Fire Protection District. DOROTHY SHARPY received her education at the Salem Hospital School of Nursing in Salem, MA and Springfield Technical Community College, Springfield, MA.   She was the Head Nurse for the IV team at the University Hospital in Boston and taught Phlebotomy to lab techs for 3 years. She is an experienced Nurse Manager with more than 25 years of broad clinical, managerial, and leadership background.  She presently is employed by the Home Health and Hospice group at the Vail Valley Medical Center in Edwards.

JUDY SHAY BURNS is a graduate of the Mannes College of Music in New York City and earned her Masters of Music from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She was awarded the Richard F. DAN SMITH holds a BS in Journalism from the University of Florida, as well as, an MBA from the same institution.  He taught at Santa Fe Junior College in Gainesville, Florida, prior to beginning a 29-year career with Exxon Mobil Corporation.  While with Exxon Mobil he held varied positions in both the Marketing and Public Affairs Departments.  Marketing positions included sales and sales management, as well as, financial analysis.  In Public Affairs, Dan held various Government Relations positions and managed the Corporation’s Political Action Committee.  He was involved in Exxon’s lobbying activity at the Federal level and in 26 states.  A regular vacationer in the Vail Valley for the past 25 years, he recently retired and moved to the Valley full time. MIKE TRUJILLOis the Program Coordinator for CMC’s EMS and Paramedic programs and will be an instructor for the Paramedic Program. His most recent professional experience was with Daimler Chrysler Corporation as their Health and Safety Administrator, and before that worked for 12 years as a firefighter/paramedic for the Dearborn Heights Fire Department. DAVE TUCHOLKE moved to Colorado in 1981and began his backcountry and mountaineering career.  He has been rock and ice climbing, since 1988 and began teaching Outdoor Education classes for CMC in 1990. He has been part of expeditions to both Alaska and Himalayas. He has also been a member of American Mountain Guides Association since 1993. MIA TUCHOLKE has a degree in Chemical Engineering, a BS in Environmental Science and an Outdoor Education Certificate from CMC.  She has been teaching and leading outdoor courses since 1993.  Her teaching experience has been in rock and ice climbing, snow and river orientation, and mountaineering.
