Glenwood Springs Soccer Club History

Glenwood Springs Soccer Club was established in 1976 to provide the children of the Glenwood Springs area the opportunity to participate in soccer activities. The membership has grown from 40 youth to over 500.

In the fall of 1995 ,the Glenwood Springs Soccer Club and Colorado Mountain College agreed to pursue the renovation of the old soccer field at the Spring Valley Campus.

When the wheels started turning, one thing led to another and in less than two years there are five new collegiate size soccer fields in the most spectacular setting you can imagine. We have designed and built a soccer complex that will rival any in the country.

Construction of the first field got under way in June 1996 with the support of many individuals, businesses, and service clubs from the Glenwood Springs area.

In 2000, the first competitive Colorado Mountain College soccer team, the CMC Eagles, took flight. The Men's and Women's Eagles compete in the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Soccer League (RMISL).

In addition to the competitive CMC Eagles Team, there is also a very active and popular CMC Club Team.

The Gates Family Foundation

Outstanding community support influenced the Gates Family Foundation to award a grant to the club to fund the construction of four additional fields.
