Glenwood Springs Soccer and Gates Soccer Park History and Slideshow
In the fall of 1995 ,the Glenwood Springs Soccer Club and Colorado Mountain College agreed to pursue the renovation of the old soccer field at the Spring Valley Campus. Construction of the first field got under way in June 1996 with the support of many individuals, businesses, and service clubs from the Glenwood Springs area. One thing led to another, and in less than we had five new collegiate-size soccer fields with the "best view from a center circle in North America." The men's and women's Colorado Mountain College Eagles soccer teams have competed in the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Soccer League since 2000. Playing against NJCAA and university club teams, the men's and women's teams continued to evolve and are now recognized as a national force in the small college soccer community. Both Eagles teams dictate play using precise ball control and an attractive passing game, giving both players and fans a fast-paced exciting soccer experience. In spring 2004, Colorado Mountain College officially joined the NJCAA, becoming the first and only 2 year college in Colorado with a varsity soccer program. | ||
