![]() | Activities & Events - Glenwood Springs & Carbondale ColoradoSurrounded by the White River National Forest, Roaring Fork Campus is near three wilderness areas, some of the world's finest snowboarding, skiing, hiking, camping and wilderness. Nearby Sunlight Mountain Resort offers excellent, low-priced snowboarding and skiing 20 minutes from campus. Students at all three locations can enjoy outdoor education courses and activities such as mountain orientation, cross-country ski tours on the Tenth Mountain Trail and desert orientation. Theater and musical productions involve students and faculty from each site. In addition to natural attractions, the Roaring Fork Valley offers a full schedule of performing and visual arts events. The Carbondale Council on Arts and Humanities sponsors events throughout the year, including the summer Mountain Fair, a folk festival which draws thousands. Glenwood Springs holds its own long-standing festivals such as Strawberry Days. Special athletic events include the annual triathlon and Strawberry Shortcut 10-kilometer race. The Calaway Honor Series brings concerts to Breckenridge, Steamboat Springs, Glenwood Springs and Rifle this January and March. The competitive CMC Eagles teams compete against other two- and four-year colleges in the state. Gates, "one of America's most beautiful soccer parks" is also host to a regional tournament, drawing teams from Colorado State University, University of Utah, Air Force Academy and many schools between. Students at Spring Valley enjoy a full schedule activities: films, dances, theater productions, entertainment and speakers. Campus clubs and organizations are available for students interested in drama, the outdoors, snowboarding and skiing, photography and Phi Theta Kappa (honor society). The World Awareness and Action Society deals with global hunger and poverty issues. Students compete in intramural softball, soccer, flag football, volleyball, and basketball. Every weekend is full of music, art, theater and dance at galleries and stages from Glenwood Springs to Aspen. | |||
